As part of the ongoing celebration of his 3rd Coronation Anniversary, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr) Sulaiman Adekunle Bamgbade – Ayodele III, Olofin of Isheri, on the sixth day of the Aje Olofin Festival, led the historic commissioning of the newly built Isheri Community High School.
This state-of-the-art educational facility, set to serve the growing population of students in Isheri and surrounding areas, was made possible through the sponsorship of the Office of the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Chief Mrs. Adejoke Orelope Adefulire.
The re-establishment of this school marks the return of secondary education to the Isheri community after a 40-year absence, during which time the previous school ceased to exist. For decades, students from Isheri were forced to walk long distances and even cross the Ogun River into neighboring communities to access secondary education. The commissioning of Isheri Community High School has thus resolved a significant educational challenge, restoring accessible education to the community.
The ceremony was officiated by His Royal Majesty, Oba Omogbolahan Lawal, the Oniru of Iru Kingdom, who praised the project as a landmark contribution to sustainable development and youth empowerment. He commended Olofin Sulaiman Adekunle Bamgbade for his visionary leadership and Chief Mrs. Adejoke Orelope Adefulire for her unwavering commitment to the SDGs, particularly in advancing education.
In attendance was the Governor of Ogun State, who was represented by Hon. Ganiu Hamzat, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. Other dignitaries included Hon. Adijat Adeleye, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development; Mrs. Ronke Shoyombo, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Education; Hon. Fola Salami, Member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Ifo II; and several esteemed monarchs from various kingdoms.
Olofin Sulaiman Adekunle Bamgbade expressed his deep appreciation for the project, emphasizing its pivotal role in shaping the future of Isheri’s youth through quality education. He urged the community to take full advantage of the new school and called for collective efforts to maintain the facility for the benefit of generations to come.
The commissioning of the Isheri Community High School is a testament to the Olofin’s commitment to improving the social and educational infrastructure of Isheri, reinforcing the importance of partnerships between traditional leadership and governmental bodies.
