His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Sulaiman Adekunle Bamgbade – Ayodele III, Olofin of Isheri, Adimula of Awori Kingdom, attended the flag-off ceremony for the reconstruction of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway phase 2 and Shagamu-Ore Expressway. The event, hosted by His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, Governor of Ogun State, marked a major step in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, reinforcing the commitment to national infrastructure development.
The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Nigeria’s busiest highway, plays a crucial role in linking Lagos with the rest of the country. The reconstruction, which includes underpasses, flyovers, pedestrian bridges, and the rehabilitation of the Sagamu-Benin Expressway, will ease traffic congestion, improve road safety, and enhance trade and mobility.
The Olofin of Isheri commended the Federal and Ogun State Governments for prioritizing this vital project especially the construction of the Isheri Kara Bridge underpass. As a traditional leader whose domain is significantly impacted by the expressway, he emphasized the long-term economic benefits and urged road users to be patient during the construction phase.
His Majesty extends his profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Federal Ministry of Works, and all stakeholders involved in making this transformative project a reality.
